VNU University of Science entered a comprehensive partnership with Hanoi University of Science and Technology

The date August 19th, 2017 became a significant milestone in the history of VNU University of Science (HUS) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), both of which are the leading university in the field of natural sciences and technology.

The signing ceremony on joining research, education in the period of 2017-2022 between the two parties and their members was held at the Le Van Thiem hall - 19 Le Thanh Tong street, under the witness of the governing board, heads of administration offices, members and staff, students from both universities.

Spoken at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son - the Rector of HUST stressed that: “Before today, we focus on international cooperation, but not so much on the official relations between domestic universities. We hope that today, a historic milestone of our nation, will open a new chapter in building our partnership, while setting up a new role model in cooperation, utilizing the capacity of national universities to compete with regional and international universities”.

On the HUS’s side, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - the rector of HUS showed his optimism: “After a series of rainy days, the sun shines again today, promising a prosperous foundation for the partnership between the two universities. This ceremony will boost our ties as well as the collaborations between members from both universities, expanding in more fields in the future”.

Prof. Nguyen Van Noi and Prof. Hoang Minh Son, representing both sides, signed the agreement.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Minh Son, as the delegates of the two universities, signed the deal. Accordingly, they consented to join forces in education, research, and management.

In education, they will construct a system for exchanging and recognizing academic credits in term of undergraduate and postgraduate; Co-mentor in postgraduate by shared projects; Support and creating a favorable condition for staff, students to share their facilities. In addition, staff exchange programs will be added; co-host and sharing information about workshops.

In research, HUS and HUST will work in coordination in constructing, searching, and developing national and international projects, research, and technology transfer; At the same time, gathering a list of specialists specified by their expertise to conduct joint research; forming mutual team, joint department, joint research institute. Besides, the two sides will exchange experience in management and co-host activities.

What they will work on and when they due will be determined in the Coordination Plan 2017 and the following years.

At the premise, based on the framework of the agreement, their members also signed deals in the area of Chemistry, Biology, and IT.

Faculties of Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics from HUS took turns to shake hands with their respective partners from HUST, namely School of Chemical Engineering, School of Biotechnology and Food Technology, School of Information and Communication Technology.

Chemistry faculty - HUS and School of Chemical Engineering signed the partnership.

Biology faculty - HUS and School of Biotechnology and Food Technology joined hands.

Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics of HUS and School of Information and Communication Technology of HUST officially partnered.

In conclusion, in the context of limited resources to invest in science and technology in Vietnam, universities team up is a wise move to reach prosperity. Best wishes to the comprehensive partnership between HUS and HUST. Hopefully they will flourish as the expectation of the rectors.
