The project will attract the participation of eight universities in the Europe, some universities in Asian countries such as Cambodia, Madagascar and Vietnam. The main European coordinating partner is UNIVPM and the Asian side is the VNU University of Science.

The Horizon 2020 program is a European Union (EU) program for research and innovation, with a total budget of more than 80 billion euros, to be implemented over the period 2014-2020. Horizon 2020 is invested in the development of science and technology in the EU and opens up opportunities for cooperation and work in Europe for scientists around the world, including Vietnam. The focus is on research aimed at solving social challenges, funding outstanding science and leading the industry. The program strongly supports innovation to rapidly bring research results into production and business practices, creating close linkages between institutes, schools and businesses.

Previously, on September 25, 2017, Prof. Sauro Longhi – Rector of UNIVPM and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Rector of VNU University of Science signed a cooperation agreement between the two universities. Both sides have agreed on a number of priority areas for cooperation, including dual degree training in new energy, environmental science and disaster prevention. Regarding cooperation in scientific research, it aims at the establishment of a joint excellent research center between the two countries on the new energy and responses to climate change. The two universities exchange information on the development of collaborative research programs within European funds such as ERASMUS + and Horizon 2020.

As an activity of cooperation between the two universities, at the invitation of the University Polytechnic of Marche and the International Association for Research on Delta and Lagoon (DeltaMET), Assoc.
