From 15th January to 20th January 2017, the VNU University of Science will assess the education quality according to the AUN-QA standards, honored to become the first university in Southeast Asia undergoing such kind of quality assessment.
From 15th January to 20th January 2017, the VNU University of Science will assess the education quality according to the AUN-QA standards, honored to become the first university in Southeast Asia undergoing such kind of quality assessment.
In the period 2012-2015, the VNU University of Science has 6 training programs, which were assessed by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) under the AUN-QA standards, namely: bachelor programs in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Geology and Environmental Science. In particular, programs in Chemistry and Geology were marked 5.0 points which are the second-highest scoring in Southeast Asia.
Prof. Dr. Phan Tuan Nghia - Vice-Rector of the VNU University of Science said: "Based on 25 standards and 111 criteria, the University started preparatory work more than a year ago. So far, the preparation has been completed. "

The purpose of the assessment is to comprehensively strengthen the quality of education, research, services, to assess the effectiveness of the system of internal quality assurance. Therefore, the quality assurance at institutional level will enhance purposes of ASEAN University Network towards ensuring quality universities in Southeast Asia. The quality assessment of the VNU University of Science under the AUN-QA standards has received considerable attention of educational experts and managers in Southeast Asia. In addition to the members of the external assessment delegation appointed by AUN 6 managers and leaders representing 6 universities in Southeast Asia will come to Hanoi to attend for training purpose.
Introduction about the ASEAN University Network (AUN)
ASEAN University Network was founded in 1995, is an autonomous institution responsible for higher education in ASEAN countries, solving the problems of human resource development and education development universities in the region and the dialogue partners. ASEAN University Network is held to coordinate and supervise key identity is one of the organization's ministers of ASEAN, which functions as the implementing agency for the higher education of ASEAN to promote region towards an ASEAN Community. The core value of the ASEAN University Network has been stated as "we believe in the spirit of ASEAN cooperation in the interest of ASEAN, and the benefits that the collaborative work we're doing will bring back to the people.”
Introduction about ASEAN University Network - Quality Assessment (AUN-QA)
In order to promote the internal quality assurance the universities in the region, AUN has launched an initiative to assess the quality of higher education in accordance with the quality assurance standards of the region - ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). This is also how the ASEAN University Network enhances mutual trust in the quality of education between universities in the region as well as with partner universities in the world, gradually contributes to the recognition of academic achievement and development of cooperation between universities in the Southeast Asian region.
Currently, the AUN-QA's activities include:
- The conference briefings for key staff to ensure the quality of the AUN-QA,
- Curriculum quality assessment under the AUN-QA standards,
- Assessment the quality of university level according AUN-QA standards,
- Training in AUN-QA self-assessment training program,
- AUN-QA’s inspector training, ... etc.
