Japanese Crown Prince visits the Biological Museum, University of Sciences, VNU Hanoi

On the morning of September 23, within the framework of his official visit to Vietnam from September 20 to 25, Japanese Crown Prince Akishino visited the Biological Museum at the University of Sciences, VNU Hanoi.

This museum houses specimens of Linecheek tank goby and the Onagadori long-tailed chicken donated by the Japanese Royal Family.

The Paratype specimen of the Linecheek tank goby was donated to the museum in 1976 by Japanese Emperor Akihito during his doctoral research on fish in the Southern region of Vietnam (the printed scientific paper announcing the new fish species was donated on March 6, 2009). The Onagadori long-tailed Chicken specimen was personally donated by Crown Prince Akishino on August 17, 2012.

In addition to the above two specimens, Crown Prince Akishino also explored other specimens within the museum. During this visit, he took photos of some specimens and showed particular interest in rare animal species and their conservation.

On behalf of all staff members of the University of Science, Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh sincerely thanked Crown Prince Akishino and the distinguished guests for their visit to the university on this very important occasion: the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan relations.
