International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials for Green Growth 2019

On the 6th of April, 2019, VNU University of Science (VNU-HUS) organized the "International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials for Green Growth 2019" at 334 Nguyen Trai, Hanoi.

Overview of the seminar

Attending the workshop were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Rector of VNU-HUS; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son, Dean of Faculty of Chemistry; Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Sharma - Lovely Professional University, India; Prof. Dr. Yong-Ill Lee - Changwon National University, South Korea; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vo Dai Viet - Malaysia Pahang University, Malaysia; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuyen - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and more than 150 international scientists from India, China, the USA, Korea, France and Australia, as well as delegates from research institutes and universities in Vietnam.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Rector of VNU-HUS deliveries the opening speech

During his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi said that he expects the conference to provide scientists and young researchers with an opportunity to seek to collaborate in the field of advanced materials. New ideas shared at this forum will also be discussed by scientists to find new solutions in the future.

The Conference is also an opportunity for domestic and foreign scientists to share the latest research results and their applications in the field of advanced nanomaterials, including photocatalysts, aerogels, zeolites, organic needle frames, biological polymers, biological composites and other nanomaterials that have high processing efficiency, low cost, high stability and are environmentally friendly.

Prof. Dr. Ajit Kumar Sharma presented on the topic: "Titanium dioxide immobilized carbon based advanced photo-catalytic materials and the future trends for energy and environment”

The scientists focused on studies and reports on the superior application of advanced materials for wastewater treatment, air cleaning, energy storage/conversion, storage/transformation of CO2, water separation and climate change related issues. This emphasizes the role of the application of advanced nanomaterials to many areas including environmental treatment, energy storage and transformation, and smart agriculture to produce cleaner, more valuable products and to solve the problems related to environmental pollution, therefore contributing to building a sustainable future for humanity.

Prof. Dr. Yong-Ill Lee delivered a lecture on the topic of "Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting Using H: ZnO Nanorod- Based Photoanode Sensitized by CdS and Carbon Quantum Dots”

Many papers were submitted to the conference by domestic and foreign scientists. Qualified reports were presented at the Conference and published in the Journal of Chemistry (SCIE, Q3, IF = 1,726).

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Vo Dai Viet presented the "Green Catalytic Reforming Processes for H2 Production and CO2 Mitigation”

VNU-HUS is currently implementing many activities in this field, including research into making porous carbon materials and aerogel carbon materials from coal to apply as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries and their processing environments, and research into synthesis of multifunctional heterogeneous nanostructured materials to be used as adsorbents/photocatalysts for the catalytic treatment of organic compounds and disinfection in aquatic environments.

The initial results show that many advanced, new generation nanomaterials have been successfully researched and manufactured to help solve environmental pollution problems, and to support renewable energy production and sustainable development. Advanced nanomaterials can be used in a variety of areas, including environmental processing, energy storage and transformation and smart agriculture. They can produce cleaner, more valuable products to solve problems related to environmental pollution.

The "International Conference on advanced Nano Materials applied in green development" is expected to promote research and exchange activities and affirm the superiority of the field of advanced nanomaterials in developing applications for multifunctional advanced nanomaterials.
