On the afternoon of October 12, 2023, the University of Sciences held a meeting with Chungbuk National University, one of the top ten national universities in South Korea. Welcoming and working with the delegation from Chungbuk National University were Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son, Vice-Rector of the University; Dr. Pham Van Thanh, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics; along with representatives from the Department for Cooperation and Development.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son shared that the University of Sciences has established many cooperative relations with major universities and businesses in South Korea such as Hanyang University, Chungnam National University, SK Group, Samsung, LG, etc. Based on these relationships and the similarities in training and research areas, Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son expressed hope that the two universities could soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU). This would lay a solid foundation for future cooperative research activities, student and faculty exchanges.
In addition to general information about the university, representatives from Chungbuk National University emphasized information about scholarship programs for postgraduate students. Students enrolled in this program will receive full tuition support and may also be eligible for additional scholarships from professors during their research. Particularly, to enable more students to access the program, Chungbuk National University will assist students in the visa application process.
One of the topics of particular interest discussed by the Department for Cooperation and Development was the special support in the 2+2 joint program that Chungbuk National University is implementing. Under this program, students will be exempted from tuition fees for all four years and will receive support for Korean language courses ranging from 3 to 6 months at the university.
During this visit, representatives from Chungbuk National University met with students from the Faculty of Physics, University of Sciences, and introduced them to attractive study programs. Particularly, as shared by the Korean representatives, the university will offer special scholarships to outstanding students and assist in connecting them with professors in their respective fields of study.
