Cooperation with the International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN), France

On Thursday morning 13th April 2016, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Hoang Linh - Vice Rector of the VNU University of Science met with the delegation from International Institute of Nuclear Energy (I2EN), France, leading by Director- Mr Yves Fanjas. Accompanying the delegation were representatives of the Faculty of Physics and Faculty of Chemistry.

At the meeting, Dr. Vu Hoang Linh has an overview of the scale and strengths in training and scientific research of University of Science. In particular, the University is one of three Universities which the Government has tasked with intensive training and fostering human resources on nuclear energy for the country.

Purpose of visit and work at the University of Science this time, Mr. Yves Fanjas want to learn the training of human resources from the VNU University of Science in case of nuclear energy, especially nuclear technology majors of the Faculty of Physics. Mr. Yves Fanjas told that the Ministry of National Education, French and the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training have signed a cooperation agreement in the field of training of nuclear energy. I2EN authorized deployment of cooperative activities under this Agreement. I2EN will support the development of teaching programs at Vietnamese universities (bachelor's degree, master's and PhD), including the University of Science; create conditions for Vietnamese students and trainees access to curriculum theory and practice which is applied in France as well as internships at partner agencies I2EN; support the design and construction of training centres in Vietnam; exchange of training and research at the master's degree, doctorate; faculty exchanges; jointly organized training courses and scientific conferences, summer schools for undergraduate, postgraduate students and lecturers on specific topics such as nuclear safety, radiation protection, management assurance quality,…).

I2EN is the focal point of the French which has role in supporting the officials, international experts access to the education system and the training of French in the field of atomic energy. The agency works with more than 33 agencies and organizations in French for the construction and implementation of training programs, including those of Government agencies, the Electricité de France (EdF) and AREVA Group and French universities.
