The Faculty of Chemistry opens the 9th Master of Chemistry course on "Advanced Materials and Environment" and awards the bachelor in double degrees

On September 7th, 2017, the Faculty of Chemistry, VNU University of Science held the 9th Master Course in Chemistry with specialization "Advanced Materials and Environment" and awarded the Bachelor's Degree in double degree.

Both of these training programs are a joint training program between the VNU University of Science and University of Toulon (France), sponsored by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF).

Attending the ceremony were Prof. Dr. Pascal Carriere - Former Vice-President of the University of Toulon, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi - Rector of the University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son - Dean of Chemistry Faculty with the lectures, students in 9th Master of Chemistry courses and new Bachelor of double degrees. At the event, Prof. Dr. Pascal Carriere, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Thanh Son congratulate the new double degree bachelors and the new master's students and thanks to AUF Francophone Organization, the teachers of two universities as well as teachers directly teach in the affiliate program so far.

 Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi wishes to promote stronger cooperation programs

Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Noi expressed his desire to further promote the cooperation program. Rector of the VNU University of Science confirmed: "In fact, these programs have created a great motivation for students, Faculty of Chemistry as well as students, lecturers throughout the university”.

According to Prof. Dr. Pascal Carriere, this is the European standard program, so the bachelor degree holders have the opportunity to go to France or Europe to continue to study at a higher level. "Through the social network, double degree bachelor programs have resonated with international students," said Toulon's former Vice President. In addition, Prof. Dr. Pascal Carriere said the University of Toulon plans to develop a joint two-year Master's program.

Student in 9th Master of Chemistry in Advanced Materials and Environment from the T’chad Republic (Africa) - Mr. Adam Mahamah

The 9th Master of Chemistry majoring in "Advanced Materials and Environment" has a student from the Republic of Tchad (Africa) - Mr. Adam Mahamah. He expressed his gratitude to the AUF for sponsoring a 10 month study program in Vietnam, to teachers in the Republic of Tchad, VNU University of Science and the University of Toulon, in particular Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chu Ngoc Chau - Faculty of Chemistry and Prof. Dr. Pascal Carriere who have helped Adam Mahamah with the program. "I hope the program will be more popular so that African students will have the opportunity to learn and study" said the new student from the Republic of Tchad.

Information about the double degrees bachelor program:

This is the only program in which the VNU University of Science awards 2 degrees in bachelor. After completing the bachelor degree, students are granted two degrees, one degree from the VNU University of Science and one from the University of Toulon.

Information about the Master of Chemistry on "Advanced Materials and Environment":

The cooperation agreement between the VNU University of Science and the University of Toulon on the Master's program was first signed on September 23rd, 2008, at the VNU University of the Science, the latest agreement signed on March 7th, 2016 in Toulon (France).

The course is divided into two phases:

Stage 1: Studying about 200 hours in theory. The whole content of the program is from the University of Toulon and taught by professors of this university and lecturers of the VNU University of Science.

Stage 2: Doing the thesis. Students will be offered the thesis at the laboratories of many famous universities in France, Europe and the VNU University of Science or jointly conducted at French corporations and factories.
