On Wednesday 11th May 2016, the VNU University of Science held the Student Scientific Conference 2016. This is an annual activity which is highly valued in training and scientific research of the university and also is a forum for students to present the ideas and results of research under the guidance of lecturers and scientists. The Conference was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Phan Tuan Nghia - Vice Rector.
In 2016, there are 543 students who come from 8 Faculties engaged in scientific research with a total of 354 reports, of which many reports are written in English. After two weeks of scientific conference at Faculties, all reports were presented and evaluated by the Scientific Council. There were awarded: 8 First Prizes, 24 Second Prizes, 25 Third Prizes and 36 Consolation Prizes to the students/groups of students.

The result, according to the Scientific Council, there were 3 students who were awarded "the best report presentation" turn in the order of the First, Second, and Third Prize:
1. Ngo Gia Long - K57 Honour Program in Physics, Faculty of Physics with the report "Production of semiconductor nanoparticles by laser-corrosion method".
2. Nguyen Thi Lan Anh - K57 Honour Program in Chemistry, Faculty of Chemistry with the report "Fabrication of test kits coupled with portable spectrophotometer for determination of nitrite and nitrate rapid in water samples and foods".
3. Hoang Thanh Huong, K57 International Biology, Faculty of Biology with the report "The new findings on the inhibition of quorum sensing antagonists process in the Vibrio harveyi".
