All four Vietnamese contestants at the International Chemistry Olympiad 2021 (IChO 2021) secured three gold and one silver medals according to the Ministry of Education and Training on August 2, 2021.
Nguyen Hoang Duong, a 12th grader from the High School for Gifted Students (VNU University of Science), won a silver medal.
The three gold medalists were Nguyen Duy Anh and Nguyen Le Thao Anh - 12th graders from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; and Pham Duc Nam Phuong – a 12th grader from Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong province).
The IChO 2021, virtually hosted by Japan from July 25 to August 2, attracted contestants from 79 countries and territories worldwide.
The big win by the IChO team closed the 2021 international Olympiad season with 37 Vietnamese contestants at this year’s Olympiads, all honoured with awards. Specifically, they have won 12 gold, 13 silver, 10 bronze medals together with two certificates of merit.
