Ten students of the VNU University of Science received the Scientific Research Student Award and the Euréka Award in 2019

Seven research projects of students / groups of students from the VNU University of Science have just been honored to receive the 2019 Scientific Research Student Award with 01 Second Prize, 03 Third Prizes and 03 Consolation Prizes.

The Ceremony of Reviewing and awarding the 2019 Scientific Research Student Award took place on the morning of December 1, by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), Ho Chi Minh Central Communist Youth Union, Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and National University of Civil Engineering. 

In 2019, the Award attracted 419 scientific research projects in 6 fields of science and technology (S&T) participating in the award including: Field of Natural Sciences; Technical Science and Technology; Medical Sciences; Agricultural Sciences; Social Sciences and Humanities. These are the best projects selected from thousands of scientific research projects of students at 85 universities and institutes throughout the country. Subjects participating in the consideration of the Awards are all rated at the each university scientific council. After the preliminary and final evaluation, the Organizing Committee selected the best topics and awarded 10 First prizes, 62 Second prizes, 89 Third prizes and 118 Consolation prizes. 

In the school year of 2019-2020, the University's students also actively participated in the 21st  annual Euréka Award competition for student in 2019. And Vu Thi Hang, Faculty of Chemistry won a Consolation Prize with the research topic of “Synthesis and properties of Gd2O3 magnetic nanoparticles for MRI positive contrast agents”. 

The VNU University of Sciences congratulated Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics, Faculty of Chemistry, Faculty of Geology, the Faculty of Environmental Science, and the students/groups of students who won the Awards and would like to thank the teachers for their enthusiastically supported and guided students throughout the research and Award competition process.

Students / groups of students who won the Second and Third Prizes of the 2019 Scientific Research Student Award took a photo with the instructors and representatives of Science and Technology Office.

The students / student groups of VNU University of Science won the 2019 Scientific Research Student Award, including:

1. Student Dang Thu Hoai, K61 Environmental technology class won the Second prize with the topic of “Study on removal of ciprofloxacin in water by biochar derived from sugarcane bagasse” under the supervision of Dr. Nguyen Thi Hanh, Faculty of Environmental Science.

2. Student Pham Van Dat, K61 Chemistry class won the Third prize with the topic of “Facile synthesis of novel areca flower like Cu2O nanowire on copper foil for a highly sensitive enzyme-free glucose sensor” under the Supervision of Dr. Nguyen Xuan Viet, Faculty of Chemistry.

3. Student Nguyen Ngoc Trung, K61 Advanced Program in Chemistry class won the Third prize with the topic of “Synthesis, characterization and modification of alumina nanoparticles for removal of cationic dye and antibiotic” under the Supervision of Dr.  Pham Tien Duc, Faculty of Chemistry.

4. Student Truong Huu Duc, K61 Honor Program in Geology class won the Third prize with the topic of “Analysis on microplastics contamination in intertidal sand sediment of Hau Loc District, Thanh Hoa Province” under the Supervision of Dr.  Luu Viet Dung, Faculty of Geology.

5. Student Hoang Anh Quan, K62 Honor Program in Mathematics class won the Consolation prize with the topic of “Reconstructing the motion of motile bacteria near a smooth surface” under the supervision of Dr. Hoang Nam Dung, Faculty of Mathematics - Mechanics - Informatics and Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoa, Dr. Orrin Shindell, Trinity University, USA.

6. Student Hoang Phuong Anh, K61 Chemical Engneering and Technology class won the Consolation prize with the topic of “Cu-Zn-Cr_LDH catalysis in the liquid oxidation of styrene” under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Faculty of Chemistry.

7. Group of student:  Le Huong Linh, K61 Chemistry; Kieu Thi Lan Phuong and Pham Thị Quynh, K61 Pharmaceutical Chemistry classes won the Consolation prize with the topic of “Determination of Meropenem in pharmaceutical samples by capillary electrophoresis using contactless conductivity detector (CE-C4D)” under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Anh Huong, Faculty of Chemistry.

And 01 student of of VNU University of Science won a Consolation prize at  the 21st annual Euréka Award competition for student in 2019:

1. Student Vu Thi Hang, K61 Chemical Technology and Engineering, Faculty of Chemistry won the Consolation Prize with the research topic of “Synthesis and properties of Gd2O3 magnetic nanoparticles for MRI positive contrast agents” )” under the supervision of Dr. Le Trong Lu, Institute for Tropical Technology, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
