On 21 November 2017, Vietnam National University Hanoi solemnly held the Opening Ceremony the 95th AUN-QA assessment at programme level for 3 programme of bachelor in Physical Geography ( Faculty of Geography, VNU-HUS), Meteorology (Faculty of Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceanography, VNU-HUS), Literature (Faculty of Literature, VNU-USSH) amd 01 Master progamme in Human Rights Law (VNU School of Law).
On 21 November 2017, Vietnam National University Hanoi solemnly held the Opening Ceremony the 95th AUN-QA assessment at programme level for 3 programme of bachelor in Physical Geography ( Faculty of Geography, VNU-HUS), Meteorology (Faculty of Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceanography, VNU-HUS), Literature (Faculty of Literature, VNU-USSH) amd 01 Master progamme in Human Rights Law (VNU School of Law).
The event had the presence of Prof. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice-President of Vietnam National University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Giang - Vice Rectors of VNU University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh - Rector of VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Que Anh - Vice Dean of VNU School of Law and Prof. Chavalit Wongse-ek- Representative of the AUN-QA secretariat, AUN assessor team along with representatives of leaders from functional departments of the VNU and member universities.
For welcoming remarks, Prof. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice-President of Vietnam National University shared that the VNU has 20 training programs which were assessed by AUN-QA and up to now, 18 programs has been certificated by ANU-QA. This time, 04 training programs which will be assessed take places in the contract of international integration in all fields; it will be strengthen up the needs of harmonization of higher education in Asia. Moreover, The Vice President would like to thank for efforts of faculties staff, students of the VNU to preparing for AUN-QA and hope the external assessment delegation will have a great and effective working time and receive good news from the assessment.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prof. Chavalit Wongse-ek- Representative of the AUN-QA secretariat congratulates to the VNU University of Science is the first university in Southeast Asia to conduct accreditation and officially has gained certificate of AUN-QA Institutional Assessment. The purpose of the assessment is to comprehensively strengthen the quality of education, research, services, to assess the effectiveness of the system of internal quality assurance. Therefore, the quality assurance at programme level will enhance purposes of ASEAN University Network towards ensuring quality of training in Southeast Asia, while objectively assessing the education quality of 04 training programs according the AUN-QA standards.
On behalf of VNU University of Science, Assoc. Prof. Sc. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh is proud that VNU University of Science is the first university in ASEAN to be assessed by AUN-QA and officially has fulfilled the requirements for AUN-QA Institutional Assessment. The Vice Rector would like to special thanks to AUN-QA team for enormous effort to to assess 4 programs at different member universities of Vietnam National University at the same time and Vietnam National University for the timely help during the writing of Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and preparation of the assessment.
The assessment program at VNU University of Science will take 03 days from 21st to 23rd November 2017, during this period, the external assessment delegation will work with the Dean of Faculties of Geography and Faculty of Hydrology, Meteorology and Oceanography, officers and staff, students, alumni and external stakeholders; visiting facilities of the VNU and member universities.
