Enhancing cooperation with City University of Hong Kong

On the 6th of May, 2019, VNU University of Science (VNU-HUS) welcomed and worked with a delegation from the City University of Hong Kong – CUHK led by Prof. Dr. Raymond CHAN, the Head of their Mathematics Department.

VNU-HUS was represented by Assoc. Prof. Sc. Dr. Vu Hoang Linh, the Vice Rector, along with representatives of Faculties, functional offices and the High School for Gifted Students.

Overview of the meeting

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Raymond CHAN expressed his desire to cooperate with VNU-HUS on training and scientific research. In addition, CUHK representatives expressed an interest in introducing students at VNU-HUS to their Science Summer Camp 2019 and Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme - HKPFS.

The cooperation opportunities that were discussed focused on the exchange of students and lecturers and the exchange of experience in research and teaching, materials and teaching facilities. Vice Rector Vu Hoang Linh evaluated these activities as a foundation to promote long-term cooperation between the two universities in the field of basic science.

HKPFS aims to attract the best students to study doctoral programs at Hong Kong universities. Participants in this Program receive annual grants, travel grants related to research and participation in scientific conferences.

Summer camp is scheduled to be held between the 8th and 12th of July 2019 at CUHK. The program is exclusively for graduate students in the fields of Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Activities during the Summer Camp include: CUHK visits, laboratories; participation in scientific research and presentations. Participants will also get to meet top professors and scientists from CUHK.
