The International Biology Olympiad 2020 was held online instead of taking place in Japan’s Nagasaki city as initially scheduled due to the complicated development of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Vietnamese team took the exam online at the University of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Although the competition was held online, the number of exams did not change. The candidates took two theoretical exams, three hours each,  and two practical exams. The virtual experiments on Animal Physiology took place within three hours and the Bioinformatics exam took 1.5 hours.
